L’Oreal Infallible 24H Matte Review

For a good few years I have sworn by using BB creams instead of foundation. But as I’ve hit my adulthood, my skin hasn’t been so kind to me so I’ve had to start using foundation when I want more coverage.
I’ve always had oily/combination skin, and up until recently I had a good skincare routine that kept the oiliness at bay. However, the recent cold weather totally dried my skin out. I stopped exfoliating and switched my usual mattifying products for normal skin ones as I thought maybe I was taking too much natural oil out of my skin. But now I’ve been battling oily skin for a few weeks, until I realised that there wasn’t a single aspect of my skin routine that was made for my skin type.
I’ve been doing my research to find a good matte foundation, as I felt that my face wash and make up removal products were still good for my skin. I found L’Oreal’s Infallible 24 hour Matte foundation range. It is only £6.99 from Superdrug, so I bought one in the colour Vanilla along with a primer for £6.99 from the same range.
Straight after applying the primer and foundation, my skin felt smoother and more matte than it had with my previous foundation. The primer goes on extremely smoothly. You can see a difference in your pores the moment you apply it. It has a silky smooth texture and you only need a pea-sized amount to cover your whole face.
I applied the foundation with a Real Techniques face brush. It blended really well as I buffed it into my skin, and it did not look cakey or chalky like matte foundations sometimes can. The vanilla colour is the closest one to my skin shade, as the lightest colour would have totally washed me out (taking me back to my more “gothic” days). You don’t need much of the foundation for full coverage, but I still used some concealer to cover blemishes and dark circles under my eyes. I finished my face off with a transparent powder across my T-Zone and cheeks to lock it all in.

After applying the foundation my skin tone looked smooth and even, my pores were minimised (Pores are the biggest problem on my face) and it looked as natural as possible. I love it.

I’ve only been wearing both the primer and foundation for 4 hours, but I can already see a huge difference. Usually after a few hours my face becomes shiny and I have to touch it up a few times with a transparent powder. However, I have been to the supermarket to do my weekly shop, I’ve been driving around, I’ve been cooking in a hot kitchen, and now sitting on my bed blogging and it has not budged. The main problem I had with my previous foundation was that after a few hours it had come off and become patchy. L’Oreal’s Infallible 24H Matte does not do this at all. My skin still looks pretty flawless. It hasn’t dried my skin out either, my skin feels smooth and moisturised but not greasy. This is the best foundation I have tried since coming back to foundations after using BB cream. I definitely will be buying this again, and so should you.
