Hello my lovely readers,
I’ve not written much for a while and I do apologise, I’ve been on work experience at Etc magazine, working as a waitress, and enjoying the holidays with my family before going back to university next Monday.
I’ll start off my first blog post of 2016 with my New Year’s Resolution, and I am proud to say it is my first one since being a child that hasn’t involved losing a certain amount of weight.
I’ve decide my New Year’s Resolution this year is to be as healthy and happy as I can be. Dean and I get married next July and I want to be as beautiful as I can be in my wedding dress, but as someone who has struggled with weight and self confidence issues in the past I’m not going to pressure myself to get to a certain weight. Yes, I’d like to be slimmer and more toned, but as someone who goes to university, has a job, AND a social life (kind of!), it’s hard to be at the gym every day and eating clean 24/7.
I’m going to aim to go to the gym as much as possible, but I won’t punish myself if I don’t. I’m going to eat as healthily as I can, but I won’t restrict what I eat for fear of putting on weight. A takeaway or piece of chocolate every once in a while won’t make you balloon within a day. I’m not going to obsess over counting calories, but I am going to plan healthy and nutritious meals weekly so that I know what I’m putting into my body. Meal prep is the key.
Not pressuring myself to lose a certain amount of weight will make it easier to get back to a healthy lifestyle after a Christmas full of big meals, chocolate, and cheese (my guilty pleasure is cranberry Wensleydale!). I have 565 days to be the best I can be on my wedding day, and I am going to be happy whilst getting there.
