My skin has been awful recently, whether that’s due to the change of the weather or the fact since the wedding I’ve not been looking after myself as well as I was before I don’t know. But I’m starting to get it under control again, and with that I’ve also switched up my makeup routine a little bit!
When I saw The Body Shop had launched a matte, skin-clearing foundation I had to give it a go. The ‘Matte Clay Skin Clarifying Foundation’ sounded too good to be true, so I was a bit hesitant about buying at first but I am so glad I did! It has a light tea-tree smell and is very mattifying but doesn’t dry your skin out. I usually find with some matte foundations they dry your skin out too much causing it to become more naturally oily, which isn’t a good look! But this one doesn’t do that at all. It’s also really easily blendable with a damp beauty blender and it’s quite high coverage, so it’s perfect for this time of year when a light BB cream isn’t enough.
I have always used NYX’s dark circle concealer under my foundation, as I get quite dark circles under my eyes so need a bit of colour correction. Although with my skin breaking out and being really uneven recently, I’ve also started colour correcting the rest of my face too. Using the Maybelline ‘Master Camo’ palette, I pop the green colour on any blemishes and redness while using the banana shade above it to brighten under my eyes even more. I then conceal any blemishes after applying my foundation with Maybelline’s ‘Fit Me!’ concealer in the lightest shade with a bit of Maybelline’s ‘Eraser Eye’ on those dark circles. All this makes the perfect combo for a blank canvas to work on with the rest of your makeup!
Even throughout the winter I like to lightly contour and bronze my face so I don’t look so much like the walking dead. As I’m quite pale sometimes foundation can wash me out, but I can’t go a shade darker or I’ll go orange! So ‘Hoola’ bronzer by Benefit is my go to product. It’s easy to blend, buildable and comes in a nifty little box that is perfect to carry with you for top ups. I usually put this along my cheek bones, nose and under my chin to add a touch of colour to my face, sometimes also pairing it with a Benefit tint on my cheeks for an extra pop of colour.
These products are all part of my daily make up routine at the moment. They keep my skin looking healthy and blemish free, no matter what is hiding underneath it!
